Greetings Village School Community!
It’s the second to last week of the year! There’s so much going on right now it’s enough to make anyone’s head spin. We’ve got the 8th grade four-day glamping trip at the coast, the 3rd grade play, "Anadramous" (written by our own Max Ritzow!), the 6th and 7th grade Medieval Games, the 2nd grade’s animal report diorama presentations, the 3rd grade trip to the Willamette Heritage Center, the 1st and 2nd grade field trip to the Gilbert House, the 4th grade trip to the Library to sign up for the summer reading program (and get a free book!), and the 5th grade trip to Ridgeline Trail, all either happening right now or coming right up! The end-of-the-year vibes are super stellar!
One other important item is that we just sent out the annual School Climate Survey. With this survey, you can provide us valuable input on your family's experience this year at the Village School.
We hope you’re staying chill in the pollen and sunshine,
Sincerely,
Roz, Shannon, and Andy
A Message from Logan
Good Day to all Village School Families,
It is with a sincere heart that I will be stepping away from being the Movement Teacher at the Village School. It has been four years of service to all students and families of the Village School, and it has been four years I will cherish for a lifetime. Every heartbeat, every drumbeat, and every ounce of effort has lit my spirit aflame. To every student, colleague, and family that has helped me build a classroom and build a school, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. I could never have done it alone.
Movement has always been a core part of my life. I have always pursued greater excellence in various movement forms and have learned so much from teaching and being mentored. I would like to thank Tim Taber and Heather Pearl especially for being mentors at various times throughout my teaching journey. I have been so grateful to see the Olympiad with four classes of 5th graders, including my daughter. I will be making every effort to pass this torch on to a new Movement Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. They will have my full support and, of course, the support of their amazing colleagues here at the Village School.
I hope your student has learned to integrate the joy of Movement into their lives. For healing, for regulation, for excellence, for fun, for health, for social engagement, for friendship, for competition… I hope your student has caught the flame and is on the path to Movement Mastery.
Please feel free to say hello from time to time and share with me what Movement engages your students as they keep growing up!

School Climate Survey
Please check you email for an invitation to take our annual School Climate Survey. An email has been sent out to all parent/guardians in our enrollment system. The survey is set up so that you can respond once for all of your students. The information from the surveys helps us inform us of areas where we shine and where we need to improve. We hope you all will take time to participate. Please let us know at office@eugenevillageschool.org if you did not receive a survey.
Library books are due!
Now is the time to return all Village School library books. They can be returned any time to your child's classroom basket (grades 1-5), the library book return, or the office.
If your child still has book(s) checked out, look for an email from the library. Village School library books can be identified by the sticker on the back cover of the book.
As a reminder, students who checked out books this year signed and had their parents sign the library agreement, which states that they agree to:
-Assume full responsibility for library book(s) and return the book(s) on time and in the same condition.
-Promptly pay the replacement cost of the book if it is lost or returned significantly damaged.
Please contact me if you believe the book(s) have been lost or if you have any questions.
Thanks for your support of our library this year!

1st Grade Field Trip
The 1st graders paid a visit to Mt Pisgah Arboretum to spend a gorgeous day in nature.
7th Grade Ashland Trip
The 7th Graders got to go to Ashland for an overnight trip to watch 2 shows! They saw "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the musical, "Come From Away". The combo of swimming at the hotel pool, a rainy day Lithia hike, and excellent theater viewing made for a fantastic trip!
Annual Giving Campaign Synopsis

We wanted to let everyone know that thanks to all of our wonderful donors we raised all of the money necessary to purchase and install the merry go round. We have just ordered the merry-go-round and expect work to begin over the summer.
Thanks to you all!
Village Kitchen News

This week students and staff sampled Oregon grown, roasted pumpkin seeds. Also known as pepitas, pumpkin seeds are packed with protein, magnesium and iron and make for a great snack or salad topping. The third grade class munched on them in the courtyard where they have been enjoying outdoor lunch this past week.

Today a small group of 7th graders showed up at the kitchen door asking to help prepare lunch. We love that Village School students feel comfortable stepping into the kitchen. A lot of important and useful lessons are learned here! Gabi seasoned and stirred the giant pots of beans as they burbled along on our range. She was given a selection of herbs and spices to choose from and thoughtfully decided to add cumin, paprika and coriander.
