Administrator's Message

Greetings Village School Community!

21.5 school days until summer break! Here at school we are fastening our seatbelts, securing our luggage beneath the seat in front of us, and putting our tray tables in the upright position as we prepare to land this 24/25 school year, ideally turbulence free.

Fun fact, on May 14th, 1908, Charles William Furnas became the world’s first ever airplane passenger on an airplane piloted by Wilbur Wright on Kill Devil Hills in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The journey was 600 meters long and lasted 29 seconds, shorter than hoped, but still long enough to get Charles William’s face printed on the 6-cent airmail stamp in 1938.

We’re utilizing these last days to the fullest, with plays, field trips, testing, and all sorts of interesting classroom activities. We hope you are also doing well and enjoying the beauty of spring in the air. Here’s a poem that reflects the way this year is unwinding:

The Enkindled Spring

By D.H. Lawrence

This spring as it comes bursts up in bonfires green, Wild puffing of emerald trees, and flame-filled bushes, Thorn-blossom lifting in wreaths of smoke between Where the wood fumes up and the watery, flickering rushes.

I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration, Faces of people streaming across my gaze.

And I, what fountain of fire am I among This leaping combustion of spring? My spirit is tossed About like a shadow buffeted in the throng Of flames, a shadow that's gone astray, and is lost.

Happy Spring!

Sincerely,

Roz, Shannon, and Andy
