The Village School is releasing an invitation to bid on upgrading HVAC systems for its Middle School & Offices. Plan specifications include material for two other HVAC upgrades (1) Kitchen and Cafeteria and (2) Gym as explained below.

The Village School is seeking bids for HVAC upgrades to its
Middle School and Lower Offices
Cafeteria and Kitchen
Gym
The division of the projects into separate bids is based on the following facts:
Cafeteria and Kitchen upgrades have been approved for funding with National School Lunch Program revenues.
The remainder of the building has been approved for funding with federal stimulus / pandemic grants.
The Gym project involves large gas package equipment that is outside the scope of many HVAC contractors, so we have split it off into a separate project to make the other two projects accessible to a larger group of contractors.
Changes since original June 2021 Bid Process
The Village School sought bids for these projects in June of 2021, but did not receive any qualifying bids. Based on input from contractors and our own internal review, the engineering plans for all projects except the Gym were simplified and improved to reflect several considerations:
The lower office areas have drop ceilings and obstructions which limit the path of ducting. We have changed the path of these ducts, limited the height of ducts 6”, resituated the air handlers, and removed the ERV’s to make this part of the project feasible.
We have greatly simplified the location and network of ventilation ducts in the middle school and the Cafeteria.
